Stephan Hermsen
Lead singer and bluesharpStephan Hermsen's musical journey began as a teenager when he saw The Liberators perform at a club in Maastricht. Inspired by their energy, he picked up the guitar and blues harp, eventually stepping into the spotlight as a vocalist. Another well-known band he plays with is The Electrophonics, a big band best known for its vibrant jive style. Over the years, Stephan has become one of the top blues harp players in the Netherlands, developing a distinctive, personal style. His vocals—especially his sense of timing—are nothing short of phenomenal.

Frans Piepenbrock
GuitarFrans Piepenbrock is one of the founding members of The Liberators, having played with the band since 1979. During the first 13 years especially, he developed a distinctive guitar style all his own. Far from being a flashy copy of Stevie Ray Vaughan or Joe Bonamassa, Frans’s playing leans more toward the understated, soulful style of Jimmie Lee Vaughan—yet always with his own unmistakable personal touch.

Ronald Roodbol
BassRonald Roodbol is the bass player of The Liberators, known for his solid groove and impeccable timing. He plays both electric and acoustic (double) bass, bringing versatility and depth to the band’s sound. In addition to his role in The Liberators, Ronald also performs with The Electrophonics alongside Stephan Hermsen. His steady bass lines, combined with the tight drumming of Lucas Vroemen, form the rock-solid foundation of the band’s rhythm section—a guaranteed groove every time.

Lucas Vroemen
DrumsLucas Vroemen is one of the founding members of The Liberators. In fact, he started the band together with Frans Piepenbrock after the two had spent two years playing in the commercial Top 40 band Reach Out. Having spent much of his career playing in smaller bands, he developed a straightforward drumming style—minimalist, with few fills—that focuses on groove and stability. The result: a rock-solid rhythm that anchors the band’s sound.

Coen van Dam
Hammond and PianoCoen joined the band in 2025, stepping in as the band's fifth member to bring an extra layer of energy, dynamics, and depth to their sound. The band had been searching for a versatile and virtuosic musician—and Coen more than delivered. His masterful playing on the Hammond organ and piano has significantly enriched The Liberators’ music, making the band’s sound fuller, more vibrant, and more complete than ever..
